Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day here in the United States.

And it's the day we celebrate the civil rights activist who did so much to help our culture.

And we always, on this day, we try to talk about an issue that would have been related to Dr. King's

life and his ministry. So I want to ask you today about, he mentioned one of his most famous

observations that he made. I don't know that he was the only person that made this, but he said

that 11 o'clock on Sunday is the most segregated time in America. I'd like to think that has changed somewhat since

he was alive, but I could still probably say there's a lot of work to be done in that regard.

I want to ask you specifically, you were a pastor, so you've had experience in this, what specific

things do you feel like pastors and even individual believers can do to help bring about that vision of a

multicultural church? The United Pentagon Church has obviously put a lot of effort into that.

What do you feel like are steps local churches and pastors can take?

Well, first of all, let me say, I think that is a worthy goal. We should strive to be a welcoming

church for every race, every nationality, every ethnicity,

every language, male and female, young and old, urban and rural, first generation

Pentecostal, multi-generational Pentecostal.

So we should be multicultural and diverse in every aspect, not to be politically correct, but

to be biblically correct, to reach people because the gospel is for the world. Jesus died

for the world. God created every human in his image. Heaven is going to be composed of people

of every race and language.

The UPCI Articles of Faith several years ago, we amended it to add that emphasis that the church should be intentional in being inclusive and welcoming of every race,

nationality, et cetera, and to try to strive to be like the church is in heaven

on the basis that every human being has created in the image of God.
