How can I start to rebuild my relationship with my son after being absent for a long time?

After years of fighting with his mom, she got custody and was able to move 16 hours away.

I'm trying to learn to slowly rebuild the trust with him and start moving forward.

What is the best way to start?

Man, there's a lot here.

I'd want to know how old this kid is.

And for some reason, she was allowed to move 16 hours away.

So I want to know what trust you're rebuilding from.

But at the end of the day, Dave, I think it starts with contact and intentionality and being accountable to yourself.

What does that mean?

That means I'm going to call at the same time every week.

That means I'm going to FaceTime at the same time every week.

And no matter what, I'm not going to miss that. I'm

going to save my money and come to a basketball

game if I can. I'm going to write

handwritten letters so he's got a

legacy of me reaching out.

And when I say I'm going

to do something, I'm going to do it.
