One of the most consistent warnings you find throughout the pages of the New Testament is

the warning against false teachers.

Paul told the Ephesian elders in Acts chapter 20, pay careful attention to yourselves and

to all the flock in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers to care for the Church

of God which he obtained with his own blood.

I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock,

and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things to draw away the disciples

after them.

Therefore, be alert, remembering that for three years I did not cease night or day

to admonish everyone with tears.

Jesus similarly warned his disciples in Matthew chapter 24, verse 11, saying, many false

prophets will arise and lead many astray.

And Peter wrote in 2 Peter chapter 2, verses 1 and 2, but false prophets also arose among

the people, just as there will be false teachers

among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies even denying the master who bought them,
