money is the root of all evil and capitalism is all about money, so you do the math.

This is hell last week we spoke with Elginon Austin, the director for race and economic justice at the Center for Policy Research.

We talked with Elginon about the recent Inflation Reduction Act, jobs, guns,

crypto and skyrocketing rents.

As we mentioned, we have been very fortunate to have analysts from CEPR on this is how since nearly our beginning way back in 1996.

The first member of CEPR to appear on our show was the person who we will be speaking with today, Dean Baker, senior economist, co-director,

co-founder of CEPR. When Dean first started appearing on our show way back in the early 2000s,

politicians in the media were insisting Social Security was in the midst of an existential

crisis with money running out in only the next few years.

Instead, Dean saw it as a phony crisis, even writing a book about it, and he was correct.

The warnings that were leading both pundits in those in politics to consider audacious plans

like privatizing Social Security did not come true

just as Dean was telling us they would not come true. As early as 2003 Dean was on to tell us that there was a housing bubble and it

would burst and likely lead to a recession. He even offered a thousand dollar

reward to anyone who could provide evidence to suggest that his

prediction was wrong. Of course, nobody took him up on the offer, but that didn't stop the

media from constantly reporting that real estate would keep going up in value with absolutely no end in sight.

Only days before the September 2008 crash talking heads were going on the major networks reassuring everyone

that their real estate investments were safe and sound. But what Dean had
