Summary

Have you ever felt like something was stealing your life away without you fully realizing it? Jeanne returns to the podcast four years after first sharing her story with Annie in 2021. Back then, she was navigating life surrounded by drinking culture while choosing to live alcohol-free. Now, in this candid conversation with Coach Hayley, she opens up about how she came to understand that alcohol steals happiness in ways she never expected. Her journey from multiple failed quit attempts to genuine empowerment shows how moving from head knowledge to heart change creates lasting transformation. Jeanne now embraces being alcohol-free as an invitation to freedom rather than a restriction. In this episode, Coach Hayley and Jeanne discuss: Catching up four years after her first This Naked Mind appearance How she realized alcohol steals happiness from genuine experiences Why failed attempts at quitting don't make you a failure The difference between choosing sobriety and being forced into it Building relationships that aren't dependent on drinking together The growing trend of dry parties and sober events getting cool Moving beyond head knowledge to heart-level change Why alcohol has nothing constructive to offer anyone Understanding your identity isn't defined by drinking struggles Embracing being alcohol-free as an invitation to your truest self How the best is yet to come in your growth journey And other topics… Episode links:Related Episodes: Surrounded by Alcohol - Naked Life Story – Jeanne - EP 397 - https://thisnakedmind.com/ep-397-naked-life-story-jeanne/ How do I deal with people being uncomfortable with my not drinking?- Reader Question - EP 216 - https://thisnakedmind.com/ep-216-reader-question-how-do-i-deal-with-people-being-uncomfortable-with-my-not-drinking/ Becoming Superhuman Without Alcohol - Naked Life Story - Niamh - E533 - https://thisnakedmind.com/ep-533-naked-life-story-niamh/ Ready to take the next step on your journey?  Visit https://learn.thisnakedmind.com/podcast-resources for free resources, programs, and more. Welcome, Jeannie to Where Are They Now. Thank you so much for joining me. And I will say that we had a

0:05.8

couple of hurdles in getting together this morning with technology. Just throwing a couple

0:11.9

curveballs. But here we are. I'm so, so grateful to talk to you. Your story has inspired so many.

0:17.1

And there's so many parts of it that not only I connected to, but all of the listeners.

0:21.3

And we're so excited to catch up with you to hear about where you are now.

0:25.1

And I also know maybe some people didn't get to hear your story.

0:29.0

So they can always go back and revisit, but it also opens the opportunity to share a little

0:33.6

bit about then and come into where you are now.

0:37.0

How are you? Oh, great. Thank you so much for having me on the show. You're right. We did face some technological challenges, but like we said, we were going to get it done. We're going to do it. We're going to get over it. And that's exactly what we did. Yep. I was thinking as it was happening, I'm like, we've done harder things. We can do hard things. Technology is just a little hurdle.

0:55.5

Like we are getting it done. We have gone through it and we've overcome something. And it sounds like we have kind of similar stories.

1:02.3

I mean, if you don't mind, I'll share what I shared with Annie back in five years ago. And I can't believe it's that long.

1:08.7

Like, earlier when we were having these challenges with technology,

1:11.8

I was telling you that it feels like a lifetime,

1:15.1

that it almost doesn't feel like that really happened to me.

1:17.6

I even have to mark it on my calendar,

1:20.9

because I know there are some people that can tell you the day,

1:23.9

the hour, they're counting down by the minutes,

1:26.4

maybe seconds of the last time they had a drink.

1:28.8

I think it's been about five or six years. When you guys emailed me to do the follow-up, I was like,

1:33.7

I can't believe it's only been five years. It feels so long. What I had told Annie at the time was

1:38.1

I had started drinking in my 20s. It started casually at nightclubs on a Friday or a Saturday, and it didn't come into my

1:48.5

weekdays for a while. I started coming into, or I started inviting it throughout the weekday, too,
