some confusion and conflict about the direction of the GOP.

Yes, it's locked out of power today, but American parties rarely spend long in the wilderness

before they find their way back to Congress or the White House.

When that happens, what form will the Republican Party and the conservative movement take?

Is there room for a more optimistic vision from the likes of Tim Scott, will the party

double down on Trump himself, or maybe leave Trump but keep the Trumpism in the form of

Rada Santas?

Is the establishment so toxic that even Nikki Haley is persona non-grata?

According to author Matthew Contanetti, to understand where the right is and where it's

heading, you have to understand where it's been.

And he lays out decades of conservative history in his new book, The Right, the Hundred Year

War for American Conservatism.

Contanetti is a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and has written about

the right at the weekly standard, national review, and his founding editor of the Washington

Free Beacon.
