Coming up on today's show, states are taking on social media's grip on teens.

New York officials have proposed a new law that could change how the youngest social media

users are served new content.

We'll find out how the law would work and what effects it could have beyond New York, from

W.S.J. reporter Jimmy Vielkind. And then Chinese manufacturers produce most of

the world's solar panels. But several of those big companies are now planning to open factories

in the U.S. J.S.J. senior reporter Fred Vorak

tells us what it could mean for the domestic solar industry.

But first, last week, senators from both political parties grilled tech CEOs over how the algorithms on their platforms affect minors.

Several senators acknowledge that current federal laws don't adequately address harms to children.

But federal lawmakers haven't united around a single approach.

Now, New York officials are considering a proposal that would restrict the use of algorithms on platforms like

Instagram and Tik-Toc for teen users.

It's one of the latest states to attempt to rein in the big tech companies.
