Hello, it's Antrice and welcome to another episode of the savvy painter

podcast I'm honored that you chose to spend another hour with me. For the last couple

weeks I have had the pleasure of having several phone

conversations with some of you and I just want to say thank you to Diana, Jack,

Alexandra, Bitzy, Karen, and Beth for your time and some really great insights.

I'll be slowing down on the phone calls because I'm leaving for Italy,

notes today's episode I have Jan Carney Jan started painting in her 40s. She struggled through her own feelings of not being a real

artist or that her work was not valid. And I hope you can mentally see the air quotes that I'm

throwing out as I say that.

After a health scare shifted her perspective and she was selected as a semi-finalist for the

BP Portrait Awards, Jan Carney is feeling a lot more comfortable in her role as an artist,

which is great for us, for her students, and for the people who enjoy her paintings, because

with those distractions gone

Jan is focused on what actually matters her art.

Jan may be a little bit soft spoken but don't let that fool you.

Nothing gets between her and her vision, not even a barbed wire
