Summary

I recently learned a new knot from @maddyrich called the Pitzen knot. He claims that the knot is quick to tie, has a small profile, and offers "massive strength." You know what that means! I couldn't resist putting it to the test! #TestIt This podcast is presented by Black Rifle Coffee Use code BLASTOFF25 for 25% off Salt Strong Insiders Club: https://bit.ly/RowlandMembership LMNT Electrolytes Special Offer: http://DrinkLMNT.com/TomRowland If you have questions or suggestions for the show you can text Tom at 1 305-930-7346

What's going on everybody it's how to Tuesday today we're going to try out a brand new knot. I don't know the origin of this knot. I don't know where it came from, but I did see it on Instagram.

Maddie Rich. Maddie Rich has got an awesome account here. He's got some really cool stuff and one of the things that he's doing on here is tying something called the Pittson knot. That's what he calls it. And he calls it a two second knot with a tiny profile and massive knot strength for attaching flies and

0:57.3

lures.

0:58.3

Okay, so we're going to find out because the way that he ties it obviously it's very fast to tie very fast so is it

1:07.4

useful is it not useful I learned how to tie it and it is exactly what he says a very small profile but the massive strength is

1:17.2

yet to be tested so that's what I did I tied three of them we tested them and

1:21.2

this is what we came up with. The first one with 15 pound

1:24.9

fluorocarbon broke at 8.42 pounds. The second 11.16 and the third 9.42 for a 64% knot strength. So it is very small, it is very fast to tie,

1:42.1

but it's not as strong as many of the other knots that we've tied

1:45.0

like the non-slip mono loop or even the Steve Huff Double figure 8.

1:49.6

But it's super fast to tie.

1:51.4

So what are your thoughts?

1:52.2

Would you use this knot or not?
