And welcome back, one last time this year, to our thoughts on House of the Dragon.

Today we're covering the finale of season one, The Black Queen. And looking back, I think this is just an

incredible finale to an incredible season of television. This is, I'm going to say, it's equal to,

if not better than the best seasons of Game of Thrones. And it has been disheartening, though not at all surprising, to see the discourse around

House of the Dragon basically collapse over the last few weeks.

And while I'm going to miss this show, maybe it'll be good to get such a long break

in between this season and the next one.

It gives us all time to breathe.

We'll be left with this extremely solid hour of television,

which essentially summed up the entire season from Reneer's perspective, calling back to shots

and events from the first couple episodes to reckon with how far we've come, before leaping

aggressively ahead into the new status quo that will define season two. Yeah, you nailed it,

buddy, on all fronts.

Thrones is back, baby.

Even in my most optimistic hopes, I did not expect this show to be this good.

Like, I generally expect HBO to have quality productions, and they had a lot of infrastructure left over from the previous show, which is a huge plus.

And I'm not even a season eight hater. But the show still surpassed expectations, providing us with some fucking meat

each week to really chew on, to digest. Not all of it goes down perfectly, but it is the type of
