seattle times columnist mike varell joining us right now. Mike, how's it going?

0:32.3

Good. How are you guys? We're good. We spent most of our day earlier trying to kind of make sense of the Mariners, which you also tried to do in your latest for the Seattle Times.

0:37.7

And there was some good news and bad news within that. I'm sure you didn't stumble across anything you didn't know about this team, but what did you kind of settle on as where you stand right now

0:43.4

with them? Yeah, I feel like there's two, like trying to think from a fan's perspective, there's

0:48.9

two dominant feelings that are valid, and I think they can coexist, which is kind of a strange thing.

1:28.8

bunch of things that are irksome and just no consistency.

1:32.4

I mean, this has been a team that just is kind of allergic to momentum in so many ways, has

1:37.4

never won more than four games in a row, has only one back-to-back series once.

1:41.8

Every time they have a big win, it seems like they have a heartbreaking loss the next night.

1:45.2

So it's just one of those situations where I think for fans, it's frustrating to hear,

1:51.8

oh, it's early over and over again.

1:53.4

Oh, it's a long season when, you know, these things are real.
