So the Mariners are poised to do a couple things that usually would drive me nuts,

and in this case might be absolutely the right thing to do.

So some of this came out of our conversation with Jeff Passing yesterday.

Turns out not the only one who had some of the same thoughts.

Jake Mintz said some of the same stuff to bump and Stacy later.

But let's kind of go through this.

The first of the two things is really just to not add at the deadline.

Or maybe to just not do much of anything.

Jeff kind of let us down that road yesterday of like, hey, guys, looking at what's available and kind of who the Mariners are at and what they would want to add, there just may not be a real good fit. Isn't that the goal? Like, isn't the goal significant upgrade at this point? It has to be. There isn't a lot of marginal upgrade I'd be interested in.

That to me would just be for the sake of movement. And that's why, guys, this could be a slow

deadline for the Mariners. And I don't know that I would begrudge them at all to that.

That's weird. Our instinct, it is. Our instinct is fans, though, is to want our team to do something.

Come on, show us you're doing something.
