If the state is going to spend half a million dollars on a consumer program, people should

actually know it exists, or it's just a waste.

If no one uses it, they should actually know it exists and they should actually want it.

Oh, and maybe it should be cheaper than what they could just buy themselves, giving Hoosier's

free car history reports. sounds smart in theory,

but without letting us know the clear benefits,

it's just another program that is costing Hoosiers money.

You've got the Indiana Secretary of State,

Diego Morales, his office created a program

that lets people get free vehicle

history reports when buying a used car. The state paid over $500,000 for the program so far,

first on a contract with Experian and now a new extension, but fewer than 2,200 Hoosiers have

actually used it.

That's just a tiny fraction, just a little bit compared to all the money that is being spent on this contract.

Yeah, this is the most government thing ever and huge props to Indiana Capitol Chronicle for doing the investigative work on this.

Nikki Kelly, when we talked to her last week, mentioned this a little bit.

But so far, the state has essentially paid for 100,000 reports,

and about 2,200 reports were pulled.

This is the most ridiculous government thing ever.
