Joe Bartlett, the collapse of this apartment building, this condo in North Miami Beach, do we know the cause of this?

No, it's a mystery.

It's a relatively new building built in the 80s, although I think early this morning it was some suggestion that there might have been heavy equipment placed on the roof. I don't know if that was a factor,

but they're looking into that. But is there any hint that it was an explosion, a bomb, anything

like that? No, there was no evidence of any explosion. The thing is, buildings just don't

fall down by themselves, generally.

Well, that's what I was getting at. And if a part, a little part collapsed, but the whole

building just started to pancake down on one side. And last time I saw anything like that was the

World Trade Center. They call that pancakeing when when one floor falls into the other and it collapses

vertically instead of

toppling horizontally.
