As I started the show, I made the point that in 20 days the Iowa Caucus will be held.

And in short order after that eight days later will be

New Hampshire and by that time by that time the race will have probably narrowed a bit.

Then Nevada and Virgin Island caucuses two weeks later,

by the time we get to March 5th, the single most important day in choosing a Republican nominee,

of the 1125 delegates needed, 874 will be up for grabs that day. 200 will have already been decided.

You'll have 874 then and then by the end of March another 710 and then about another 3.5,400 after that.

All by way of saying, on the morning of March 6th,

I think Trump's the nominee and the race is over.

At which point the Democrats will have already been maneuvering to put their own candidate in place.

And we've seen a situation like this.

It was 1968.

Lyndon Johnson was the sitting president,

just as Democrat Joe Biden is.

Lyndon Johnson was the far less popular

president than the president for whom he had been the vice president,

which was John F. Kennedy, of course, the Kennedy assassination made Johnson the president.

And many people then, and to this day, still believe that L.B.J. was in some way involved because he was so ambitious and wanted to be president and it

happened in Texas and the whole thing is squirrely no matter how you look at it.
