When you watch radio personality Michael Perry.

When you watch presidential debates or you see political commentary about presidential campaigns or any other campaign. They talk in a way.

It's so unlike how we actually exchange ideas about the governance of this country.

And it's sort of the, you know,

you have bedroom talk and then you have public talk,

you have things you say in public and when you're at home when the doors

are closed the things you really say.

And I think the charm of all in the family was that Archie Bunker was this kind of grumpy guy who came home tired from work and the world was changing around him and you got a window into

a guy's soul and you kind of liked him.

Even if you didn't agree with everything he said, everybody sort of liked him. Everybody sort of liked him because he was real. He was authentic. And this wasn't what we saw in the way families were portrayed.

And then you had sort of a whole genre

of more realistic, authentic, if somewhat contrived,

television programs of that era,

which for me is the golden era of television programming.

All in the family, good times, the Waltons, those sorts of things.

That to me is, is, if not always wholesome then very engaging and compelling. So I say all that to say that the

way we talk in private doesn't get a public airing, but it's how things are actually

discussed and it's how we engage.

So I was searching around last night looking at various posts about various subjects just to sense a mood and things.
