This is CBSI on the world. I'm John Batchel. I welcome Malcolm Honline. My colleague and friend,

Conference of President's major American Jewish organizations, we go immediately to the question of the

hostages. What remains and how to negotiate with people who are responsible for the deaths of all of these hostages, what remains and how to negotiate with people who are responsible for the

deaths of all of these hostages. Malcolm, I've been puzzling the celebration of the return

of the young women so far. This leaves out the question of who murdered the people who

have not been returned and who persecuted these young

women for more than a year? Are those questions to be answered?

There are questions that must be answered, and I think you're, you know, people see the

image of them coming out, walking on their own power, but once they get debriefs, once they are examined by doctors, their condition is determined

to be much worse.

They were not fed for days on end.

They were given a piece of pita bread most days.

They were working as cleaners or cooks for the Palestinians, but we're not allowed to eat,

and they were denied showers for long periods of time.

How they survived is beyond me.

I cannot understand the strength and the resilience that they are demonstrating.

And as you rightly point out, of the group of 33, in this stage, eight already acknowledged to be dead by Hamas.

And we believe amongst the others, many more are in fact, were killed by them, either as they kidnapped them on the 7th of October last year or subsequently in captivity.

So they found a bullet in one of the girl's legs, another had shrapnel,

and the psychological, let alone the physical mistreatment that they were subjected to,

especially the women, will be documented, I'm sure in the future, they're very courageous.

They confront things openly, but they're so relieved to be out.
