Hi, there, everyone. It's 4 o'clock in New York. After more than a year of Donald Trump's chaos and

mayhem and nonsense, dare we say, hope is starting to make its comeback. It's something most

Democrats haven't felt much of since the day is heading

into the 2024 election, but with voters continuing to speak and show up at the polls and fighting

back like they did last night in Virginia, and as Americans' frustration with Donald Trump's

presidency drives his approval ratings to historic and record lows.

There is renewed hope that Trump will not succeed in his attempt to break our democracy.

Voters in Virginia stood up to Donald Trump and against his attempt to gerrymander his way

to the Republican Party staying in power in November.

Virginia voters saying yes to a new congressional map that could give

Democrats four more seats in the midterm elections. Last night's victory marks the second time

that American voters have gone to the polls to fight back against Donald Trump's personal

pressure campaign to get red states to red draw their congressional maps in favor of Republicans.

That's after voters in California overwhelmingly backed new maps there last November.

President Barack Obama campaigned hard for the Virginia measure, posting on social media,

quote, congratulations Virginia. Republicans are trying to tilt the midterm elections in their favor,

but they have not done it yet.

Thank you for showing us what it looks like to stand up for a democracy and fight back.

As if on cue, or perhaps triggered, Donald Trump this afternoon called an election he lost.

You guessed it.

Rigged.

And House Speaker Mike Johnson called him the Virginia Supreme Court to overturn last night's results, saying they were unfair to 50% of the state.
