Hey, if you have a Bible, we're going to be in Romans chapter 16 today. We want to talk about

what you need to know when you feel like you don't matter. It's real talk. Sometimes we feel

like what we're doing for God isn't being seen or what we're doing for people, what we're doing

in our job. And we can end up if we are not at a particularly good place, starting to dwell on the fact that we feel

unappreciated, that we feel like what we're doing is being taken for granted, that what we're just

doing isn't being seen, period. The title of this message is honorable mentions and the highway

to nowhere. We live in a world that celebrates the big names, but the truth is that

behind the scenes, the majority of people serve in more obscure ways. And when you're in the midst

of that, it can feel like you're forgotten. It can feel like you're giving your best, and where's God

in all of it? If you're relating to me at all, then you can relate

to the prayer that David prayed in the Psalms when he said, God, why are you so far from me?

What an honest admission that is. And no doubt there were parts of David's life where he just

really felt that way. I mean, he had these promises from God, these dreams from God that were going to be realized eventually, but in between the

promise being given and the promise being fulfilled, there was this enormous period that

stretched on in David's life for decades where he lived on the run, he lived in caves. It seemed

like God who had put this dream in his heart,

and David had sought to please, sought to live for.

Where was he?

David felt unseen.

David felt at times unappreciated.

We can all end up there when what we're doing

doesn't seem like it's making a difference.
