aka Eschatologuy

Honor and loyalty serve as the foundation of any civilization worthy of the name and any culture worthy of respect. As these have faded from our culture, we have seen a rise of treacherous — and even treasonous — behavior and a concomitant decline in Christianity. If we are to rebuild what has been permitted to decay or has been maliciously destroyed, then we must re-inculcate honor and loyalty, and we must comport ourselves accordingly. The Christian, first and foremost among men, should be a man of unimpeachable honor, and honor and loyalty are virtually synonymous. But we must also have a frank discussion of betrayal and treason, and a meaningful redress of those who are guilty of such heinous crimes.

The Welcome to the Stone Choir podcast. I am Corey J. Mahler.

0:41.7

And I'm still, whoa.

0:44.4

On today's Stone Quire, we're going to be discussing a number of related concepts, beginning with treason, betrayal, traitors, and the flip side of that, which is duty and honor. The reason

0:58.4

that we're tackling this is that I realized a couple weeks ago, I saw a post go by on my timeline

1:04.6

where someone posted something about treason, and as I saw it go by, it was directly related

1:09.7

to actual national treason, you know, the proper term.

1:14.1

And I realized when I went by and I posted this in response, that I think most Christians don't believe that something such as betrayal actually really exists.

1:25.1

I think that there's been such a collapsed view of morality among modern

1:29.2

Christians that the idea that you could betray something, it doesn't really register. It's not

1:35.2

just a Christian problem, but we of all people should know better because Judas is the betrayer

1:41.9

of Christ. That's effectively his title. I don't only call it a title, but he is the betrayer of Christ. That's effectively his title. I don't only call it a title,

1:46.0

but he is the betrayer of Christ, Judas the betrayer, or Judas the traitor. And he's a traitor

1:51.7

because Jesus is high king, and he was a betrayer because he was his friend. He was his teacher.

1:58.9

And so as Christians, we should have every sense that it's absolutely possible

2:02.5

for there to be real betrayal. And the problem is when you don't think that betrayal is possible,

2:07.5

it opens up the door to all manner of evil behavior that today we see people who call themselves

2:15.0

Christians not only approving, but actively participating in, and in many

2:19.6

cases, profiting from. And so we're going to talk today some about things are going on in

2:25.2

Springfield, Ohio, and elsewhere. It's not to be timely. We had planned on doing this episode a week

2:30.8

ago, and I apologize that we missed last week. We sat down on the day we normally record, ready to record, and suddenly everything just fell apart. We fought for an hour and just couldn't get it working. The next day, we sat down to record and right as we were about to, something came up and it delayed for a few hours and just, all right, let's do it the next day. And then the following day,

2:54.6

we tried once again, and it wasn't going to work. And we realized really, you know,
