This episode is us behind the scenes of director Alma Harell's new drama, Honeyboy.

Starring Shaila Buff in a story inspired by his own real-life childhood, the film follows a young

actor into early adulthood as he navigates a difficult

relationship with his father and struggles to deal with his mental health. Honeyboy marks

Ms. Harrell's feature film directorial debut. Her other credits include the documentary features

Bombay Beach and Love True and various commercials. She was nominated for the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Commercials

for her work on the 2017 Proctor and Gamble Spot, Love Over Bias.

Following a recent screening of the film at the DGA Theater in New York, Ms. Harel spoke

with director Boaz Yakim about filming Honeyboy.
