Welcome to our Rosary meditation. We are at the home of the holy family in Nazareth.

This is the very place where Joseph brought Mary and Jesus after their flight into Egypt when they came

back to the Holy Land. This is where they made their home. This is where Jesus grew up. This is where Jesus

learned at the School of Mary. This is where Jesus learned the value of work from St Joseph.

This is where Jesus learned to pray from Mary and Joseph.

This is also the place probably where Joseph died in the presence of Jesus and Mary.

That's why Joseph is the patron of a happy death.

He had the grace of being in the presence of Jesus and Mary.

We ask Joseph for the gift of a happy death that we may have Jesus in the sacrament of reconciliation and the Eucharist, and then Mary will be in our presence.

So let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and let's call to mind all those we promised to pray for.

We take our meditation today from a speech by Pope Paul the 6th here on the Feast of the Holy Family.

Paul the 6th says, Nazareth is a kind of school where we may begin to discover what Christ's life was like and even to understand his gospel.

Here we can observe and ponder the simple appeal of the way God's son came to be known.

Profound yet full of hidden meaning and gradually we may even learn to imitate him.

Here we can learn to realize who Christ really is,

and here we can sense and take account of the conditions and circumstances that surrounded and affected his life on earth.

The places, the tenor of the times, the culture, the language, the religious customs,

in brief everything which Jesus used to make himself known to the world.

Here everything speaks to us, everything has meaning. Here we can learn the importance of spiritual discipline for all who wish to follow Christ and to live by the teachings of the Gospel.

This is the School of Mary where Jesus learned at her feet.

And so here we entrust ourselves to Mary that she may teach us.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hollow it be your name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
