Sadly, we're one person down today.

Todd Pruitt is off somewhere in the woods in Mississippi

hanging around with a bunch of other PCA pastors at the Twin Lakes Fellowship. But I'm here,

Carl Truman, as usual, with my co-host, Amy Bird. We have a special guest on today.

Somebody has become a good friend of mine over the last couple of years.

His name's Francis Meyer, commonly known as Fran Meyer.

He's a graduate of the University of Notre Dame in New York University.

And interestingly enough, a former fellow of the American Film Institute Center for Advanced Film Studies in Los Angeles.

From 1973 to 78, he worked as a screenwriter

and story analyst for Warner Brothers, United Artists, and various independent film producers.

Then from 78 to 93, he served as the editor-in-chief of the National Catholic Register Newsweekly.

That's the news organ of the conservatives within the Catholic Church. And from 1993 to 1997, he was communication secretary

to Denver's then-arch bishop J. Francis Stafford. For the past 20 years, he served a special assistant and senior aide to

Archbishop Charles Shepu. He was on this program just a month or two back. First in Denver and now in

Philadelphia. He has written an awful lot and his writing has appeared in the New York Times, America,

First Things, Commonwealth, National Things, Common Wheel, National

Review, the Christian Science Monitor and many other national and foreign publications.
