This is the Labor Day tradition now that the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon has hit the skids.

Well, I guess that's how you can refer to his death.

He hit the skids, but we know.

He got dumped a couple of years before he even died.

And I'm old enough to remember that when that thing was like the pinnacle of show business every labor day,

and he really would get the cream of the crop.

And then as I watched it, as I got older and he got older and we all got older,

the show became just the drags of showbiz humanity.
