We are officially now in the lead up to the big holiday season.

My kids have been baking lots of treats.

I'm starting to see people in my neighborhood switch out their fall decorations for their

Christmas ones.

You know, I normally wouldn't have even paid attention.

I'm typically so busy and not at home, but this year my wife and I have been taking lots

of walks around the neighborhood.

And of course, lots of people are shopping.

This is always an important time of year for retail.

And that's especially true this year.

A lot of retailers are hoping shoppers are willing to spend big this holiday season to make

up for sales that they've lost as a result of the pandemic.

But this year, between the public health crisis and also the recession, stores are going

to have their work cut out for them.

So to try and break down, how stores are thinking outside the box to try and keep shoppers

safe and to try and still increase sales, I'm going to hand today's episode over to

CNN's Chief Business Correspondent, Christine Romance.

She tells us what stores are doing differently this year and what those changes are going

to mean for all of us.
