I love being the girls. The girls chat. The girls are in the chat. The girls are in the chat. And we're talking to all things. You know, because Ashley, I said decorations, but you said you're going in Christmas lore and Christmas vibes and holiday cheer. Yeah, but you did bring up something that I think a lot about, like in the intro, which is the elf on the shelf. Yeah. And how much I hate it. Why do you need it? I, for one, I'm against a surveillance state. You know what I mean? Right. Just the idea. Yeah. Because I know like Santa's watching or whatever, but he's also like a fat guy who likes cookies. So he feels more relatable. It feels looser. He's not going to catch you. He's not going to catch you. If you're running, an elf will catch you. An elf on the shelf feels like a cop kind of. It has like a cop vibe. Yeah. And also the idea that like if you touch it, the magic's going to disappear. It's just a whole new set of rules that we're giving these kids to... I thought you're supposed to move it and be like, oh, it moved last night. Yeah, the parents move it, but then, like, the kids aren't allowed to touch it. So, like, they've also been selling these, like, containers that, like, you can put the elf in so the kids can then move the elves around wow okay so i i did not

grow up with an elf on the shelf no it's like very new i didn't either yeah the young kids now that are

2:24.7

growing up with it i don't know about the lore why can't you touch it because it's like then the magic

goes away oh it only moves at night and it goes home and reports back to Santa, everything that you've done.

Weren't you guys taught as witches not to invite the fairies into your house?

2:42.0

Like it seems like you're not supposed to invite the fay into your house.

2:49.2

Well, there's a lot of lore of like vampires don't let them in. I think it's also sort of like an emotional awareness. So you're not supposed to just let anybody just drain you emotionally at the bar. Yeah. And then my ex. And then my mom. And then my mom. You're just like, oh my gosh. I love that. Don't let them in your house as a metaphor for like knowing when to set a boundary. Right. And she'd be like, I got to go. Oh my gosh. You know? So I'm looking up Elf on the shelf. It began in the 70s. Really? Yeah. It feels like an early aught. But it was brought to the world in 2005 by Carol Alesbord and her daughters. Yeah. When did Hallmarks start marketing it? When did these fucking ass? Yeah, 19...

3:28.2

Wait a minute. It was started in the 70s, but it was brought to the world? So what does that mean? I'm looking at Wiki AI overview. Elf on the shelf began family tradition in the 70s brought to the world by 2005. Oh, so maybe it was like a worldwide

3:40.9

super popular by 2005? Right. In 1970s it was just like five families did it. It was a small trend. Just a weird neighborhood. Just right. Weirdhood. And then it became a tradition. Yes, that's why we didn't grow up with Elf on the Shelf. Did you hear that Karen's Elf on the Shelf is in stores now? You thought I was crazy

And I'll have on the shelf
