So, what should we talk about? The Phillies suffered another 8 to 4 loss last night to the Cubs,

another unpleasant development in this string of truly unpleasant games.

The Phillies dropped another game last night, 8 to 4 to the Cubs.

Mick Abel got beat up by the Chicago offense.

The bullpen allowed even more runs, and the Phillies couldn't find a hit when they needed

one.

As always, the slugging numbers were down.

with a story in this particular episode. So back in 1965, the Phillies manager was Gene Mock,

and they were down at spring training. So Gene Mock, anybody familiar with him, is going to tell you that Gene Mock is a tinkerer, a fiddler, a platooner.

If he could find an edge, he was always looking for one, and if he could find it, he was going to use it.

If Gene Mock read that a pitcher could throw a better fastball by standing on his head,

he would have had a couple of guys try that.

So Gene Mock's always looking for a way to give his guys an advantage.
