| 0:07.2 | Denison's The Daily Article podcast for Thursday, April 11th, 2019. Adolf Hitler is wearing a white, |
| 0:13.1 | double-breasted jacket and black trousers. On his arm is a red band with a black swastika. |
| 0:18.1 | In another scene, he wears a gray suit with a fedora and talks with Heinrich Himmler, |
| 0:21.6 | the overseer of the Holocaust camps. These are some of the home movies shot by Eva Braun and her |
| 0:26.3 | friends at the Berghoff, Hitler's retreat in southeastern Germany. Braun was Hitler's |

| 0:35.7 | We know about these movies because the National |
| 0:37.5 | Archives is restoring and digitizing them. The entire four hours of footage should be completed |
| 0:42.2 | this month. When you heard today's headline and heard the accompanying story, what was your |
| 0:46.4 | reaction? Mine was one of disgust, mixed with curiosity. No figure in modern history conjures, |

| 1:15.6 | But I feel no existential angst. For most of us, most of the bad news in the news feels the same way. |
| 1:21.6 | A gas explosion yesterday in a North Carolina building killed one person and injured 17 others. |
| 1:26.6 | A 20-year-old college student in South Carolina died after what is being called an |
| 1:31.3 | accidental fall at a fraternity party last weekend. |
| 1:34.3 | We feel sorrow for these victims and their families, but unless we know them personally, they don't touch us personally. |
| 1:39.3 | Even reports that California's overdue for a major earthquake don't affect us viscerally unless we live in California or know someone who does. |
| 1:47.4 | You and I live in a day when technological advances have insulated us from the constant threat of death, or so we think. |
| 1:53.6 | There was a time when hunger, disease, war, natural disasters, and predators were an ever-present reality for most humans. |
| 2:00.6 | Today, government programs keep even the most impoverished of us from starvation. |
| 2:05.1 | Medicine is more advanced than ever. |
