We're looking at the 1980s, rearbies, mania. We've just been chatting before, we've started

a recordness and we've described various things that we do as distractions, what was the phrase

you use? Some distractions from our onward march towards the grave. Yeah, and that's kind of what

our relentless inevitable march towards the grave. But you know, I had lunch with my dad last

week and we had a conversation like this and I was teasing him about the fact that he doesn't

really like most films on the basis that he finds them implausible. My dad's like one of the

biggest words my dad can use as a criticism is implausibility, anything that's implausible he

has disdain for. And I was like, yeah, but I mean, you know, that's a pretty high bar to set.

I mean, the whole point of fiction is that you suspend your disbelief a little bit, right?

Of course you do. And E.T. for fuck's sake. I know. I said what about Jaws, right? You'd go

out, there's no way there'd be a shot that big and they'd catch it anyway, blah, blah, blah,

and he'd go out, huh? No, he didn't say that, but that is what he'd said if I engaged him in a

conversation about Jaws, he would claim to know about sharks like any dad would of his generation.
