Summary

This talk was originally presented in Collingswood, NJ on May 11, 1993.
This recording is a result of our work digitizing over 600 cassette tapes of Elisabeth's talks. Each tape is decades old and the quality of the recordings varies quite a bit from tape to tape. As we preserve Elisabeth's legacy, we will share as much of her work as possible, even when technical issues affect the quality of the audio. Each talk is unique in content and tone. All are a blessing and encouragement.

I've forgotten exactly when he died.

1:28.3

God still speaks today as he spoke to our forefathers in days gone by,

1:31.4

before there were either spiritual directors or methods of direction.

1:35.0

And let's say before there were any such things as women's spiritual life days,

1:38.8

let alone seminars and books and TV and tapes and all the rest of it.

1:43.4

The spiritual life was then a matter of immediate

1:46.0

communication with God. It had not been reduced to a fine art, nor was lofty and detailed

1:54.4

guidance to it provided with a wealth of rules, instructions, and maxims. These may very well be necessary today,

2:02.6

but it was not so in those early days

2:04.6

when people were more direct and unsophisticated.

2:07.6

All they knew was that each moment

2:11.6

brought its appointed task

2:14.6

faithfully to be accomplished.
