President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a call on the future of the Ukraine war earlier today.

The Kremlin says Putin agreed to a temporary halt of attacks on energy

and infrastructure targets in Ukraine for a 30-day period,

but did not suggest that Putin had agreed to a U.S.-backed

temporary ceasefire proposal. The Kremlin says Putin also told Trump that a prisoner exchange

would happen between Russia and Ukraine tomorrow, and is demanding that foreign military aid to Ukraine

stop. According to a description of the conversation from the White House,

Trump and Putin agreed that peace talks to end the war in Ukraine include, quote,

technical negotiations on implementation of a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea,

full ceasefire, and permanent peace. The readout said negotiations on those points would begin

immediately in the Middle East.

Apart from peace talks, the Kremlin says Trump supported Putin's idea to organize U.S.-Russia hockey matches.

Israel's defense minister doubled down on the government's decision to resume strikes in Gaza,

warning Hamas that the quote, rules of the game have changed.

Israel's foreign ministry says the decision to restart the war came after Hamas rejected two

U.S. proposals.
