This week, a story by the wonderful Elna Baker, who first shared this one on the podcast

all the way back in December of 2010.

Here's Elna now with a story we call, hi God.

So I was born Mormon, raised Mormon, grew up within the Mormon faith, and aside from

the things that you're taught in church, I also think as a person I was prone to having

faith.

And I think that's because I love the idea that there is a God, and that there's this

being up there that sort of witnesses to your life.

And so in spite of myself still, if I see the moon and look up at it, my first reaction

is to say, hi God, as a Mormon living in New York City for eight, nine years, I didn't

drink, I didn't smoke, I also ended every relationship I was ever in with a guy because I didn't

believe in having sex before marriage, and they didn't believe in that.

And so then the relationship would end.

And so at 27, still single, still not in any real significant relationship, I decided,

you know what?
