Hey everybody, this is Rob Leifeld. Welcome to another edition of Rob Observations. Wow,

all of the pop culture, all of the comic books smashed together, bringing us entertainment 24-7

nowadays on all platforms. And I'm here to cover my own journey with comic books that has lasted

from when I was five years old yes five years old

pulling those those early comics um from my barber and then later the spinner rack and it's all

been just the most magical journey i could ever possibly imagine having it has been a busy weekend

in between podcasts holy moly like the the world of comics never sleeps never slows down

and uh in this case uh i am i am uh my my weekend was full of comic book related even related

to this podcast which which i'll talk you through quickly. But, so there was a giant, uh, acquisition.

AT&T, which of course set out to purchase Warner Brothers, which includes DC Comics, which

includes the DC Universe of Films, Warner Brothers' entire film slate, HBO Max. Well, HBO Max actually

came of this, but it was HBO prior to that.

The AT&T went through years of federal regulations, you know, during the last presidential term,

because that president was making it more difficult for the acquisition to go through because

you always have to do this in acquisitions and mergers, especially of the size of the size

with billions and and is it is it a monopoly? You know, you know, this has happened in the

past. Some companies are forced to shed certain assets in order to shrink down and meet the criteria

that they are not indeed a monopoly, but they went through all these years of getting these

clearances.

AT&T I did with Warner Brothers, I believe spending about $150 billion in debt, taking on Warner Brothers,

and then creating this HBO Max platform to compete with Netflix and Disney Plus,

which again, Disney Plus searched.
