If I said to you, tell me everything you know about Daniel or David or Joseph or Paul, many things come to mind.

But if I said today, tell me everything you know about Gaius. What could you tell me?

It's interesting, isn't it, that when you look at Scripture, there are certain characters that we seem to gravitate to we know so much about.

But there are other Bible characters that God includes on the pages of Holy Scripture, that it seems like we emphasize very little.

One of those men is the man whose name I gave you a moment ago.

He's called Gaeus, and he's found in the little book of Third John at the end of the

New Testament. Third John is actually the shortest book in the Bible. It's only 294 words. And in it,

there are three characters mentioned. There is Gaius, who will talk about in just a moment. There's a

man named Diochaphes, and there's a man named Demetrius. Now I don't want to

get sidetracked too much on the other two men, but Diotrophes and Demetrius are pictures of two men

in every church. One is a good example and one is a bad example. A Diotrophes was a man who loved

to have the preeminence. He wanted to be the chief.

He wanted to be in charge. Dmitrius, on the other hand, just had a good report of all men.

He was a man who had the right kind of testimony, and I want to say to you today, every one of us

all to say by the grace of God, we want to be a Demetrius and

not Adophtrophes. I hope you'll read the little book of Third John today. It's only 14

verses long and meditate on that. But I want to draw your attention to the first man that is found

in the little book of Third John. He actually is the man that John is writing to. Verse number one

says, The elder under the well-beloved
