We asked our community to share some of their holiday tips. It’s so nice to hear from other women who actually get it. They are living it right now too, or have lived it in the past.

0:00.0	You're listening to the Love Over Addiction Podcast. Hey there. It's Joe and this week we get to hear from our community. The holidays can be tough when we love someone suffering from addiction.
0:30.0	There are things that we can do within our power to really rise above that and enjoy the holiday no matter what our partners are choosing to do.
0:39.0	We ask the wonderful women inside our community to share their holiday tips.
0:44.7	So without further ado, here they are.
0:48.2	I set a boundary and told my partner that I wouldn't be making plans or spending time with him over the holidays.
0:55.0	This was a top one for me.
0:57.0	I told him I would love to spend time with him on his free weekends,
1:00.0	but I wouldn't be spending time with him over the holidays because of the chaos in the past.
1:05.0	I plan on having a relaxing holiday season at home.
1:10.0	My daughters are adults with their own families and busy careers so I don't require them or
1:16.0	guilt them into participating in the family traditions we had when they were growing up.
1:21.6	This has been so freeing and allows us to enjoy the season together or separately.
1:27.0	The husband and I have made new traditions together and one is we take a night drive around our community to
1:35.7	admire all the Christmas lights and this year my daughter and I are taking my
1:41.8	little four-year-old granddaughter to see the Nutcracker Ballet to kick off the holiday season.
1:47.0	I wrap my gifts as I buy them. The adults in my mom's family do white elephant gift exchange that eliminates
1:56.6	about 12 adult gifts. It is wonderful.
2:01.3	We do a girls day with my mom, my sister, my girls, and myself a weekend before Christmas
2:08.0	where we decorate cookies and make gingerbread houses.
2:11.0	We usually try some of new dessert recipes from Pinterest as well.
2:15.6	It's a nice fun, relaxing time.
2:18.4	I like to remember that it is not about money and gifts.
