Hebrews chapter 2, verse 18.

For because he himself has suffered when tempted,

he is able to help those who are being tempted.

Oh, this is so good.

The picture, the portrait that the author of Hebrews paints of Jesus all throughout

this book, and particularly in these first couple of chapters, is breathtaking.

It's beautiful.

Just talking about Jesus as the glory of God, the exact representation of his being.

That's the one who upholds the universe by the word of his power. So this picture of Jesus

and all of its glory. And then when you get to the end of chapter two, you see Jesus described,

and this is all throughout the book of Hebrews, but in his humanity as one who was tempted like us

and suffered when tempted in such a way that he is able to help us when we are tempted. Oh, this is such good news

that when you and I face temptation today, which we all will, every single one of us, will face

temptation today to sin. And we have a Savior who is familiar with any temptation

we face. And you might think, well, I mean, he wasn't tempted to look at images online. Internet

didn't exist then. Yes, but that temptation to lust, that temptation to go outside of God's will. In every way we're tempted

today, he experienced that temptation as well and endured through it. He himself has suffered

when tempted, which means he is able to help you as you are being tempted today.

So God, we pray that in every temptation we face today, every temptation to sin, every temptation

to not trust in you, every temptation to turn from you, every temptation to doubt you, every temptation we might face today,

we pray that in that moment we would realize you are with us, Lord Jesus, and that you know what
