0:46.0	In fact, it's the 35th annual celebration of this holiday, and I can remember when this holiday was still new.
0:52.0	And I was a very young person coming out of the closet myself.
0:57.0	This is a day we celebrate everyone who's come out as a member of the LGBTQ Plus community.
1:02.0	And we're welcoming Hello Monday's associate producer, Lolia Briggs, for a very special episode to commemorate the holiday.

1:14.0	Thanks for the warm welcome, Jesse.
1:19.0	I came out as queer during the pandemic.
1:22.0	I lived in an apartment in bedside Brooklyn with my best friend.
1:26.0	We were trying to enjoy our early 20s as safely as possible.
1:30.0	And dating at such a formative time helped shape us into the adults we were becoming.
1:35.0	I soon realized how cut off I felt, not being able to share who I was with my family.
1:42.0	My parents were not accepting.
1:45.0	I'm a child of older Nigerian immigrants and pretty traditional Christians too.
1:50.0	So I knew coming out to them would be my biggest hurdle.
1:53.0	And to no surprise, they did not welcome this part of me.
