0:00.0	One of the most remarkable sections of the entire Book of Mormon, in my opinion, on a lot
0:06.8	of levels and for a variety of reasons.

0:11.7	Number one, look at how it starts.
0:17.1	Last week you'll remember, we were in the pride cycle and watching how many times the Nephites
0:22.3	were just going around this almost like a Ferris wheel, this pride cycle.
0:27.5	Now look at chapter 13 verse 1. It came to pass in the 80 and 6th year, the Nephites did still
0:32.2	remain in wickedness, yea in great wickedness while the Lamanites did observe strictly to keep the commandments
0:38.9	of God according to the law of Moses.
0:41.4	So you get this total reversal of the Lamanites and the Nephites that sets the stage here.
0:48.3	And it came to pass that in this year there was, notice how Mormon words this, there was one Samuel, a Lamanite.
0:58.0	Now, the question is, is there only one Samuel in all the land and he happens to be a Lamanite?
1:04.0	I don't think that's what he means.
1:06.0	I think it's just a common guy, there's one Samuel among many Samuels and he happens to be a
1:12.4	Lamanite. We know nothing, absolutely nothing about this guy's background. We don't know
1:19.3	his parentage. We don't know if he's part of the group of the anti-Nephi Lehiites or if he
1:25.4	had been in the same group with the stripling warriors. We don't
1:30.2	know where his hometown is. We don't know who taught him the gospel. How he got converted for
1:35.5	sure, if it was Nephi and Lehi in his mission, if he was part of that group. We know nothing
1:40.0	about him. We don't know if he's married. We don't know if he has children. We don't
1:43.8	know where he lives currently. So he just shows up, he came into the land of Zarahimla, and he begins
