Hey, everybody. Welcome to another episode of Heist. My name is Simon. And I'm Matt. And for those of you listening for the first time, this is a show all about Heist in the News and more importantly, famous heist from history. How you doing today, Matt?

I'm doing really good, Cy. How are you doing? I'm doing good, man. I feel good, feeling excited about the last few we've done. And we're kind of taking a step back to the traditional modern day heist with this one. Yeah, we did some things kind of off the beaten track. Yeah. And we're getting and they had great responses. Yeah, it's always fun. And I like getting back to the, you know, trusted and true as well. Yeah. No, it'll always fun. And I'm like getting back to the, you know,

trusted and true as well. Yeah. No, it'll be great. And I think we're going to somewhere we haven't

been to yet on this podcast. So that's always fun too. Yeah. But enough of that. Should we just

get into some ridiculous heist news? Let's do it. All right.

Heist in the News.

So, Matt, the first piece I got today comes from K-Cal-9, a local news channel.

Thieves abandoned massive safe after planning elaborate heist at Fullerton Jewelry Store.

They repelled into a Fullerton jewelry store,

came prepared with a blowtorch to break into the safe, and even though they had to abandon it

outside, they still got away with thousands of dollars in jewelry and watches. After the owner of

Country Club Jewelers walked into a shop earlier this week and found a large gaping hole in his ceiling. Oh, man. This is a pretty real heist. That is a legit heist. You got the wall cut, the ceiling cut? The ceiling cut? You got blow torching into safes. The thieves went to great lengths to eventually take about $60,000 in watches and jewelry, but they were forced to abandon the store's massive safe.

The owner believes the thief scouted the store and shut down his electricity hours before the heist. So this is becoming more and more of a pretty good heist. Cutting the power, that's an

advanced move. They planned it very well, the owner said. The thieves apparently broke into the store

through the roof and used ropes to repel down. Ropes. Marks left on a massive safe. Whoa, sorry, are you pointing out that they brought ropes? They brought ropes. I feel like that brings it up another level. It's a rope. Oh, it's a rope ice. Oh, you didn't tell me the ropes involved. They didn't bring a ladder. Marks left on a massive safe indicates indicates they used a blow torch and a hammer to try and break in, but when that didn't work, they dragged it outside. Eventually they gave up on the safe and left it behind. Police are still looking for at least two suspects. So, few things. One is, why did they drag it outside? That's what I was wondering. They need more room to smash it up. Yeah, maybe.

And like, we need to do this in public.

People need to see the amount of work that is going into them. Yeah, that's very weird. I mean, maybe it was just so heavy they could. If you got outside, couldn't you put it into your getaway car or something like that? You'd think there would be, maybe they didn't expect it to be that big or something.

Yeah, and also, I mean, I'm wondering if it was a plasma cutter.
