Verse 17, faithfully, Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac.

So again, he didn't believe it was true that God told him to sacrifice Isaac.

Right?

But when God told him to go sacrifice his son, Abraham was faithful and he obeyed that commandment.

And he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, of whom it was said in Isaac, your seed shall be called, concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead,

from which he also received him in a figurative sense. Right. So what is this? So again, it's reading the text.

What do we see? We see Abraham go and obey this commandment, which involves him going and killing the only

son he's got at age 100, right?

And not only, not only is he willing to go and kill this only child he has, right?

It's not that he thought, oh, well, hey, God had Sarah have one kid.

I guess he can give her a second kid, right, if I kill this one.

But he had been told, let's St. Paul points out here, he had been told that it was through Isaac in particular that his

descendants were going to be reckoned, that Isaac was going to be his heir, not just some other

later kid, right, of whom there ended up not being one, right? So then what can we possibly conclude from that?

Right. Well, what we'd have to conclude from that is, as St. Paul says here, that Abraham must have thought, well, God brought him out of a dead womb, right?
