Well, we're in a heatwave throughout the world.

Last year I covered dehydration, how to keep ourselves hydrated and these type of temperatures.

Well, today I'm going to cover two other weather-related illnesses.

And these illnesses could hit us in the middle of the summer during these type of conditions.

They are heat stroke and heat exhaustion.

Heat stroke can be fatal.

We'll start with what heat stroke is because it is the most serious of heat-related illnesses.

And it occurs when the body can no longer control its temperature.

The body's temperature rises rapidly, sweating mechanisms fail,

and the body is unable to cool down because we sweat so we can,

that's our body's way of keeping it cool.

Body temperatures can raise to 106 degrees Fahrenheit within 10 to 15 minutes.

Some of the severe symptoms of heat stroke are, as I said, high body temperature.

Once you get a body temperature that's 104, your core temperature hits that 104 degrees Fahrenheit,

you really, really need to get some medical help.

You're in a bad place.
