This is Hear Me Out. I'm Celeste Hedley. Do you like Congress, what they're doing, how they operate, who is in there?

If you said yes, you are part of a very small minority of Americans. Most of us across party lines are not

fans of pretty much anything happening in our federal legislature. Congress is unproductive,

it's full of long-term residents who don't

seem compelled to get much done, and in some cases they age into very public

dysfunction. So you'll often hear term limits suggested as a place to start to get fresh eyes and ears

in our halls of government.

But this wouldn't be a hear me out episode if we didn't pose the question.

What if that supposed solution actually made things worse?

Using term limits to fix these problems, in my view, would be like trying to fix a

leaky pipe by smashing it with a hammer.

This is a reform that does not fit the problems

that we're talking about. Professor Charlie Hunt of Boise State University joins us
