Every single year we start off with a word. And our word this year is trust. And it's not a random word. It comes straight out of scripture. Hebrews chapter 10 versus 35 through 37. We declare this every single Sunday as a family. So let's read it together. Y'all ready? Come on, do you like who you're standing next to? And if you don't, change your seat. You got time. You got time.

Come on, don't go until I say so, all right? So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord.

Remember the great reward it brings you. Patient endurance is what you need now so that you will continue to do God's will.

Then you will receive all that he has promised.

For in just a little while, the coming one will come and not delay.

We're going to jump into our text for today.

Last week, we kicked off a series called Still. Still. It's a series on silence and solitude.

And I kind of set the pace and the trajectory of this series last week to let you know that although we're a church that loves to get loud, I mean, we will turn

all the way up. Maturity knows how to be loud in a crowd, but also how to retreat and solitude and

silence. Because there are some things that God can only do in your life when you get still.

The psalist writes, be

and know that I am God.

And it's not enough to just come around God if you don't get

alone with God. And so we're learning the discipline,

and it is a discipline of silence and solitude. And so

I want to add another layer to that today and look at

1 Samuel chapter 3 versus 1 through 10, 1 Samuel chapter 3. Samuel's in the Old Testament.
