Summary
For many of us, hurt oftentimes happens in relationship to other people. Therefore, healing needs to happen in community as well. For the halfway point of our healing series, I’m exploring a statement that was introduced to us in last week’s episode — that healing often happens in community.
In this solo episode, I’m examining why being in community is such a significant, effective healing modality, why we don’t need to be perfectly healed to be loved, and ways we can cultivate healing in our immediate and broader communities.
I also talk about…
- The Summer Solstice Journaling Reset, a 5-day journaling challenge.
- Why healing is not a prerequisite for receiving love or support.
- How being in a supportive community can be incredibly therapeutic.
- Why being in community is an effective healing modality.
- Ways we can cultivate healing in our relationships and communities.

| 0:00.0 | I love it. Thank you for listening about this black girl. There are a lot of shows in these |
| 0:11.6 | podcast streets and I am very grateful that BBG is a part of your lineup. So we are now at |
| 0:18.2 | the halfway point of our healing series and we are also coming up on the halfway point of the |
| 0:23.8 | year. If you've been listening to the podcast for a while you may recall at the beginning of the |
| 0:28.3 | year we had a series and challenge called reframing the reset to set the tone for the new year. |
| 0:34.4 | Also, side note, the reframing the reset series was the highest listened set of episodes we've |
| 0:40.4 | ever done on the podcast. During that time, y'all were really dialing and picking up what we were |
| 0:46.0 | throwing down, which was amazing. And with it being halfway through the year, I thought, |
| 0:50.7 | oh, I think we need a mid-year reset because life happens and it is so easy to lose track of the |
| 0:58.2 | intentions that you set at the beginning of the year. Or you could still be holding yourself to |
| 1:03.6 | goals and intentions that maybe aren't serving you anymore and it's time to let them go and move |
| 1:07.6 | in a different direction. So beginning June 20th, we're going to be doing the summer solstice |
| 1:12.4 | journaling reset, which is a five day journaling challenge, it's time to help you get focused and |
| 1:17.2 | aligned for the second half of the year. So when you sign up, I'll be sending you reflection |
| 1:22.1 | prompts and exercises each day for five days to help you reflect on the first half of the year |
| 1:26.9 | and map out where you want to go in the second half with prompts inspired by the summer solstice. |
| 1:33.0 | Summer is the season of light, energy, youthfulness. We can really tap into that to set some |
| 1:38.1 | intentions that feel more aligned for wherever you want to go. So you can go to the show notes or |
| 1:42.8 | you can go to balanceblackgirl.com slash solstice to find up. Again, that will be linked in the show |
| 1:48.4 | notes or at balanceblackgirl.com slash solstice and I will begin sending you the prompts on June 20th. |
| 1:56.4 | And if you're listening to this episode later or at another time in the year, you can still |
| 2:00.6 | totally do it. I'll set it up so that you can still get the prompts because they really will be |
