I had no idea this was part of the new confrontation with Russia.

Tells it very clearly. The Russian spy ship stalking Europe's subsea cables. Covert operations close to

subhead in waters surrounding the British Isles pose a grave threat to critical infrastructure

and a fresh challenge to NATO. Joining me now is someone who I counted on for giving me the vital

information about undersea cables before the

Financial Times published its most recent revelations.

I welcome Kevin Fraser of the University of Texas Law School, who guides me through this

on the publication of lawfare article, he writes, Wired for Failure, the Undersea Cable Emergency

that could sink America's AI aspirations. That goes in the direction of undersea cables

and how vulnerable they are to accident or deliberate sabotage. It does not, however, take into

account that the Russians have flagged a spy ship

to track the undersea cables in addition to other vital infrastructure under the ocean and are now

revealed to have hostile intentions for those cables and those pipelines if and when.

Kevin, I'm going to assume this was surprising to you.

However, we need to come back to what you learned for undersea cables.

How vulnerable are they to sabotage?

I think that's what you could say.

Or to listening in devices or to being tracked by a Russian

military intelligence ship called the Yantar.
