Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

After his conversation with Nicodemus, Jesus went with his disciples to the Jordan River Valley where John was baptizing. The

disciples of John the Baptist, however, grew concerned that everyone was now going to Jesus.

John responds, he must increase, and I must decrease.

According to Pope Benedict, the Baptist's words

are a program for every Christian.

Jesus must increase and we must decrease.

Well, if Jesus is the program, then we must do what he did.

The first thing that Jesus did

was to take Mary for his mother and to live in a close personal relationship with her

through the entirety of his life from the manger to Cana to the cross.

And there at the cross he gave her to us to be our mother. So to live an imitation of

Jesus and have his life increase within us, we must develop our own personal relationship

with Mary, moment to moment, day after day.

So in this day, so in this day, recall her presence and continuously seek her counsel, say to her, Mary, what should I say here or do here, and pay attention? Our Father who art in heaven, hallow would be your name.

Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses.
