Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

Now after the wedding at Cana Jesus went to Jerusalem for the Feast of Passover,

probably in late April. There Nicodemus, a Pharise, a religious leader of Israel, came to talk with Jesus alone and at night.

I was struck by this conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus because Jesus reveals some of the most important truths of life.

First, he tells Nicodemus that he has not come to condemn the world.

He came to save the world from the consequences of our sin? And how did he come to save us?

By taking our place, by dying in our place and then rising from the dead, conquering death once and for all.

Jesus said, for God sent his son into the world not to condemn the world, but so that through him the world might be saved.

And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, the son of man must be lifted up, Jesus

foreshadowing his crucifixion so that everyone who believes in him

might have eternal life.

Our Father who art in heaven,

hallow would be your name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us to stay our daily bread and forgive us our test passes as we forgive those

who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us

an evil.
