According to the latest data from the NYPD for the month of July, Grand Larceny is up

40.6% robbery 37.2% and burglary is up more than 25% compared to a year ago.

A former NYPD lieutenant commander blames lacks laws and enforcement for making criminals

more bracing.

The current criminal justice atmosphere within New York state and specifically New York

city emboldens criminals where they think they can operate with impunity without being

in the state.

So the theme of this segment, if indeed there is one, is that when all of us get caught

up in the my side, your side, tribal politics raw, raw thing, frequently what gets missed

or covered up or ignored are actual issues of governance, of the way we love our lives,

of having a healthy, happy place to live.

And so we want to feature some actual closer to the bone stories than Trump and Mar-a-Lago

and that sort of thing, at least for a little while.
