One of the best ways that Dina and I tend to express love these days to each other is

to remind ourselves that we're on the same team.

And we're trying to have that team mentality and everything we're doing.

It's a really rich, wonderful season for us in that kind of way.

I'm John Fuller, along with Greg and Erin Smolley.

They lead the marriage department here at Focus on the Family.

I mean, obviously we do these podcasts together.

Erin, we're closely together in so many different ways.

How do you communicate that, hey, teammate thing with her?

You know, funny enough, one of the ways that I do this and I'm not making this up is to close your eyes

and create a picture in your mind of you and your spouse kind of in military, armor.

You're in a foxhole somewhere, some battlefield.

Like literally imagine you and your spouse on the battlefield because that's where you are.

We have a sworn enemy, Satan, who absolutely despises, hates with every part of his being your marriage.

Because he knows what your marriage is capable of.

He knows the power of oneness and that synergy and what you can do together.

And so he always is going after your unity and oneness.

He's trying to split you.

He's trying to make you adversaries fighting against each other versus fighting together against whatever it is.

And that's a powerful imagery.

Remember that always when you guys get into conflict, just see yourself on that battlefield and that foxhole now fighting each other to then say,

whoa, whoa, whoa, you are never my enemy.
