The U.S. birth rate has been declining for years, and some experts say it is now well below the level needed to keep the population stable.

The United States population grew last year at the lowest rate ever recorded outside of the pandemic.

A partisan fertility gap has emerged over the years with conservatives having more children than liberals.

So let me say very simply,

I want more babies in the United States of America.

I am so happy to be talking to you right now.

I have spent the past month and a half working on a conspiracy she wrote series about how

Candice Owens happened. And that's part of why I am especially delighted to be talking to you today, not about Candice Owens.

I got to say, side note.

If you haven't listened to that series, of course I recommend you do.

It ended up being four parts.

Didn't think it was going to be that long.

But my God, so much to unpack there.

And the only downside is, you know, the amount of time that I spent watching and listening to Candace Owens.

I can never get back. I digress. We have more fun things to talk about than that, of course.

There's so much delight in the world. I mean, it's the kind of new cycle now where anything feels

insignificant, right, because everything is so massive. But I wanted to take this

conversation to focus in on something that I feel has kind of gotten lost in our, you know,

tiny attention spans and just the sort of political discourse, cultural discourse happening.

And that's babies.

We need to talk about babies, the having or not having of babies.
